Chrysler 300 SRT Core Satin Vapour special edition launches from $60,000
The special edition Chrysler 300 SRT Core Satin Vapour has joined the American brand’s muscle car line-up in Australia.
Limited to 130 units, the Satin Vapour is based on the stripped-out 300 SRT Core variant and, at $60,000 before on-road costs, is positioned midway between the base Core ($56,000) and the fully equipped 300 SRT8 ($66,000).
The $4000 premium for the Chrysler 300 SRT Core Satin Vapour adds a host of features, including an 8.4-inch UConnect touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation, dual-pane panoramic sunroof and leather upholstery with perforated suede.
On the outside, the 300 SRT Core Satin Vapour also gets 20-inch satin black aluminium wheels, red brake calipers, black chrome grille, gloss black window surrounds and Hemi wheel arch badging, body-colour fascia with black/chrome accents, SRT lower black stripe, and stain black mirror caps, roof wrap and rear spoiler.
Despite the extra equipment, the Satin Vapour still misses a number of features that come standard in the SRT8 such as the 19-speaker premium audio system, blind spot monitor, adaptive cruise control, full Nappa leather upholstery, auto-levelling suspension and electronic damper control, among other items.
The Satin Vapour special edition is mechanically identical to the cheaper Core variant, retaining its 347kW/631Nm 6.4-litre V8 and five-speed automatic transmission that sends drive to the rear wheels.
As with the regular 300 SRT8, the Satin Vapour is expected to sprint from 0-100km/h in approximately 4.8 seconds, while its combined cycle fuel consumption is rated at 13.0 litres per 100 kilometres.
The arrival of the special edition Core Satin Vapour comes a few months before the 2015 Chrysler 300 range, which is due to launch in the second quarter of this year.
