2015 Alfa Romeo Giulietta QV : Pricing and specifications – UPDATE

The 2015 Alfa Romeo Giulietta QV has arrived in Australian showrooms with a host of new features and the first-time option of an automatic transmission.

The updated Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde six-speed manual is priced at $39,000 before on-road costs, $150 less than before, while the six-speed dual-clutch (TCT) automatic version costs $3000 more at $42,000.

While both are powered by a 1.75-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta QV TCT has more power (177kW versus the manual’s 173kW), a quicker acceleration time (6.0 seconds versus 6.8sec) and better fuel economy (7.0 litres per 100 kilometres versus 7.6L/100km) than the manual. Both produce an identical 340Nm of torque at 1900rpm.

Update: As we have reported, the Giulietta QV is now auto-only in Europe. Alfa Romeo Australia is able to offer the manual gearbox because it is matched to a pre-facelift iteration of the 1750cc engine, not the updated version lifted from the 4C that features with the TCT.

Despite being slightly cheaper than before, the updated Giulietta QV gains the UConnect infotainment system with 6.5-inch colour touchscreen and satellite navigation, nine-speaker Bose audio system with subwoofer and SD card reader, bi-xenon headlights, LED tail-lights, front parking sensors, leather/alcantara upholstery, electric and heated front sports seats, chilled glovebox, front seatback pockets, and floor mats.

The TCT uniquely adds a flat-bottomed steering wheel with paddleshifters, launch control, an intake sound generator, sports exhaust, and burnished 18-inch alloy wheels in place of the manual’s silver alloys.

The QV’s exclusive features (it also gets red Brembo brake calipers and sports suspension) come on top of those already standard in the Giulietta Distinctive mode grade, which gets LED daytime running lights, auto headlights and wipers, rear parking sensors, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, and a tyre pressure monitor.

The QV tops the three-tier 2015 Alfa Romeo Giulietta line-up, sitting above the entry $29,000 Progression and $33,000 (manual)/$35,000 (auto) Distinctive.
