Peugeot RCZ R Bimota boasts 224kW 1.6-litre turbo engine

Developed in conjunction with Italian motorcycle maker Bimota, the Peugeot RCZ R Bimota has been unveiled at the Motor Bike Expo in Verona, Italy.

Changes under the bonnet include a new ECU and a new bypass valve for the turbocharger. In concert with a new exhaust system, the RCZ R Bimota manages to squeeze 224kW out of its 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine.

That's up significantly from the 199kW on offer in the regular RCZ R that's available in Peugeot showrooms right now.

Other changes include a suspension setup that sits 10mm closer to the ground and upgraded front brakes with 380mm discs with four-pot calipers.

Externally, it's easy to tell the RCZ R Bimota from regular versions thanks to its red-rimmed black alloy wheels, and red, white, black and green body work based on Bimota's racing livery.

On the inside, the interior features an Alcantara-covered dashboard with red stitching and highlights, as well as Bimota-liveried door pulls.

The RCZ R's rear seats have been junked in favour of a leather-lined storage cabinet for two motorcycle helmets, while ahead of the passenger is a TomTom Bridge 7-inch touchscreen interface. Two GoPro cameras are installed in the RCZ R Bimota — one is mounted in the car's front bumper, while the other faces rearwards from a position in the car's headliner.

No word yet on whether the Peugeot RCZ R Bimota is a one-off special for the bike show or whether it will head into production.
