2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STi Spied? No…

June 21, 2007 by Alborz Fallah

Update: False Alarm.

Thanks to Paul for pointing out that our friends at NASOIC had got it wrong.

————————–

Our friends at the North American Subaru Impreza Owners Club (NASIOC), have spotted this mule being tested in the US.

2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STi Spied? No...

The photographer said

I tried to follow it for as long as I can but the driver was getting annoyed and sped away. At the light, it definitely has that STI engine rumble. Not to mention, it sped away like an STI.

It was being driven by two japanese men. I couldnt get a clean still shot of the brembo’s. They were trying to flee from me so i couldnt get a shot of the aggressive front with hood scoop

If this is the new STi, and we believe it is, the rear wing must be massive! Although there is a possibility it is over exaggerated deliberately to hide its true shape.

As the car is being tested in the US, we expect more spyshots to surface in the next few weeks!

Hahaha that is huge… Subaru are truly the laughing stock of the automotive community, they have destroyed a ‘good thing’ in the outgoing WRX and Sti. I can understand their logic in toning down the image for another crowd, afterall hatches are popular, but thats what the regular Imprezas have always been for!

  2. Lexus GT-F says:

This is a Toyota Matrix or Prius. Autoblog is turning stupid.

  3. alborz says:

    From what we can gather,
    its the STi,
the guys at NOSIAC would know an STi from a Prius :)

  4. Paul says:

ROFL yeah… the photographer has said the car has sped away with the engine rumble associated with these kinda cars… but its a Prius. Some of the posters here are ‘turning stupid’.

will delete this for now, till we can work out if its true or not

    okay, u win paul :)

  7. Paul says:

Aaaaaargh I was being sarcastic Alborz!!!!

Although tbh I think its in doubt, the thing at the bank makes you think its a huge wing of the Sti… but its general shape is very similar to the Prius.

Eitherway the fact that there is confusion between something like an Sti and a Prius is SAD.

  8. alborz says:

    no u were right paul,

u’d think as a WRX owner, I could tell, but alas I was all too excited by the news.

it isnt an STi, its not even a subaru!

  9. George says:

Well then, the new Prius looks, err… nice.

  10. Lazybones says:

“u’d think as a WRX owner, I could tell”

Alborz, I would have to say that is definately a slab of beer offence! I think Paul should name His drop, and you should get down the bottle shop mate :)

But wait a minute, didn’t Lexus GT-F spot this one first?

  11. Azza says:

That car is a new Mazda 2
