McLaren 650S Le Mans limited edition built to celebrate 20th anniversary of race win

Compared with regular 650S models, the McLaren 650S Le Mans has been styled to honour the McLaren F1 GTR took not only the chequered flag at the 1995 race, but also the models that finished third, fourth, fifth and thirteenth that year.

The 650S Le Mans was designed by McLaren Special Operations (MSO) with input from the creator of the McLaren F1, Peter Stevens.

Changes on the limited edition Le Mans model include a roof-mounted snorkel that funnels air to the 650S' 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8. Despite this modification, the V8 boasts unchanged power and torque ratings of 478kW and 678Nm.

Consequently the 0-100km/h time remains unmoved at three second flat, while the top speed is still pegged at 333km/h.

The 650S Le Mans rides on new lightweight wheels that mimic the look of the rims fitted to McLaren's 1995 Le Mans racers. The 19-inch front wheels and 20-inch rear rims are clad in Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres and hide standard carbon ceramic brakes with orange calipers.

Other external modifications include a carbonfibre front splitter, a rear diffuser, sill extensions, and Le Mans wording emblazoned in orange on the flanks. On the inside, the Le Mans edition is decked out with black leather sports bucket seats with a contrasting centre portion covered with orange Alcantara.

The limited edition model will be restricted to a production run of 50 coupes and will be sold across the globe from the middle of the year. Buyers will also receive an invitation for themselves and a guest to attend a party at Le Mans celebrating the victory's 20th anniversary.
