Here's an idea Crouchy. How about you make yourself ECOnectic by keeping your inane thoughts inside your head.

Does the 0-100 really matter, the in-gear times are more of a better indication. Having driven a few variants of the Mondy I reckon they are one of the best. The standard 2.0 diesel does about 5.2litres/100 cruising at about 130K's. Interestingly I had a C5 yesterday for 800k's in 1.6HDi format, pretty good overall but that only did 5.9's.

Golfie,
Yep its a Diesel.

Also on pace, expect around 11 secs to 100kmh.
The only real specs I could find placed this vehicle as a 1.8L, not a 2.0, but i think there might be a 2.0L option????

I also feel Baji may be correct on the true L/100K. My quick search suggests the same thing.

Either way 5.2L and under for a car this size is remarkable.
At 5.2L, this makes for around 3L less than a small car, and the pace would still be around the same.

On an Aussie econetic Focus........
It should stand a red hot chance.
When the "Green car fund" was announced, Ford OZ's President (M.B.) was on the record saying they would re-evaluate the Focus program and see if they couldnt structure in changes that would see them qualify for "Green Funds"

I think CA may have gotten to fuel consumption conversions incorrect. They are originally quoted in MPG(UK Gallon) however CA has converted them using the US Gallon.

If converted correctly, the consumption figures should be 4.4L/100km highway, and 5.2L/100km combined cycle.

The original Imperial figures were 54.3MPG combined and 64.2 highway.

There is just now way for something that size to be getting 4.3 and 3.6 L/100km. Not at this stage anyway.

Those fuel economy figures are astounding for a car of that size. If it is priced right and has decent torque then it should do very well.

That powertrain in the Mazda 6 Wagon I purchased today would be awesome. Would have gone for the Diesel 6, but the wife is sick of changing gears. Well done Ford.

Hmmm This set up in the Aussie made Focus, wonder wether Ford Au could get green dollars for it?? I mean surely an ICU can't be as green as a Hybrid could it Penny??????
Ford have the ability to offer Green vehicles in sizes to suit most families now with Fiesta Econetic being all but confirmed for fourth quarter release, this vehicle could be here next year and the Aust built Focus Econetic in '11

Ford is doing great things over in Europe, and the Econetic is no exception. Hopefully, Ford Australia can follow suit and go mainstream with turbo diesel.

Should I assume it's a diesel, Car Advice? Any mention of torque figures?

I'm with Frugal here. Whatever powers it, it's an achievement.

*****PRIMO!*****

When you consider the size of this exceptional ie the size/weight of this [same inside as a Falcon] and the stunning fuel economy, it make the car 3 post down [the hydrogen UK job] seem like a silly watse of time and effort.

This economy will now beat a LPG sized even with the price difference, once your under the 5% V 15% the LPG cannot make up the difference, of course this will all change as soon as Ford start selling the injected Falcon...soonish!

Race is not on to get a family sized car UNDER 3L per 100 km

Well done Ford, bring it here, MUST be auto though, will wallop the Prius good and proper, and be cheaper and euro-better to boot!

Cheers
