2010 Peugeot 308 RC-Z spied
June 17, 2009 by George Skentzos
The Peugeot 308 RC-Z was first shown to the public almost three years ago at the Frankfurt Motor Show in concept form and only now have we caught our first glimpse of its production sibling.
Staying relatively true to the original concept, the 308 RC-Z may have aged before its time with many comparing its shape to the previous-generation Audi TT.
Whilst slightly disguised, it is obvious the prototype in these images has retained the concepts twin-dome roof which provides down force without the need for an ungainly spoiler.
The 308 RC-Z will be up against some serious competition although will most likely differentiate itself as a more practical and fuel efficient alternative rather than an all-out sports car.
It is likely to share its engine line-up with the higher-level 308 models which includes a raft of petrol and diesel models while flagship version boasting over 180kW is also rumoured to be in development.
With Peugeot proving to be quite competitive at Le Mans with its diesel entries, finishing one-two outright over the weekend, it is likely the brand will use this success to push a performance diesel flagship.

TT with a pug badge. No bad thing, only if it’s cheaper.
Punctuation OK Reckless?
Certainly can see the TT likeness. Looks a little odd but maybe it will look better in the metal. It will be stange to see on the road though. You will see a 308 coming in the mirror and a TT disapear up the road. Like, “where did the 308 go”?
I looked at the pictures again. CA, are you sure it’s not a Chinesse built car? It looks like something they would do, You know, take the front of one car and the tail of another. Voila, we have a new car!
Good to see originality in European design.
WTF – I am sure the headlights and seats are facing the wrong way!
Yep, a TT with a touch of Boxster. At least Peugeot are trying.
Their problem will be kitting this up with a decent motor – I don’t recall Peugeot having anything moderatly sporting in their engine line up?
So either revless diesel engines or perhaps a 3 litre 6 from their 407 or 607 models?
i like it , look more muscle than TT also the dashboard look cool…
looks like the tt and eclipse had a baby, an ugly one too
The concept was a handsome little brute (IMO anyway). They need to get on with the production of this already.
Iz im with you bcoz the concept was stylish but this is getting me nervous, are they going to make it or not. Cmon pEugeot hurry up
I was once a die hard Peugeot fan. Back in the mid 90’s when the 306 really made an impression against the competition ( I still have my 306.) I have no faith in the brand these days. Pretty it ain’t, but here’s hoping there’s at least a little magic in the suspension department. Not holding my breath though…
Pops, have a look under the hoods of the two cars that came first and second outright at Le Mans 24 hour race this year.
PSA engines have also been to the fore in the WRC events in recent times.
If Peugeot needs a high performance engine, they have the expertize to build one!
