2015 Subaru New Cars

Details of the new and updated Subaru models launching in Australia in 2015.

Subaru Forester – March

The Subaru Forester will see a long-awaited diesel-auto drivetrain option in March.

The 2.0-litre turbo diesel four-cylinder ‘boxer’ and continuously variable transmission (CVT) auto seen in the recently revised Outback will finally grace the engine bay of the Forester, which has been hamstrung somewhat by its manual-only oil-burner option since way back in 2010.

Expect other minor changes for the entire Forester line-up, with the possibility of a new touchscreen media system and some trim adjustments as part of the update.

Subaru Impreza – First half 2015

An updated version of the Subaru Impreza will go on sale in the first half of 2015, bringing mild styling tweaks and revised equipment levels.

The refreshed Impreza – which was revealed in September – sees styling changes and the addition of a new touchscreen media system across the range and, for the first time, Subaru’s EyeSight collision avoidance system will be offered on the Impreza.

No engine changes are expected, with the 2.0-litre four-cylinder ‘boxer’ to be retained with the choice of six-speed manual or continuously variable transmission (CVT) auto.

Subaru XV – Second half 2015

The Subaru XV is expected follow the lead of the Impreza, with a mild styling upgrade and revised equipment levels by the end of 2015.

The refreshed XV is expected to gain minor cosmetic adjustments and a new touchscreen media system across the range.

On top of that, buyers can expect to see Subaru’s EyeSight collision avoidance system offered for the first time in the XV.

Subaru Levorg – Q4 (unconfirmed for Australia at this stage)

A decision on the Subaru Levorg – an Impreza-based station wagon with sporting credentials – is due by the end of March.

The Levorg (weird name aside) is available in its home market of Japan as, essentially, a WRX sports wagon, with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder ‘boxer’ engine pumping out as much as 221kW and 400Nm – the same amount seen in the Japan-only WRX S4.

There’s no manual option – it’s a CVT automatic only – but it seems the Levorg could prove a hit with buyers after a more versatile option than the WRX sedan.
