2012 Ford Ranger T6 advanced prototype spied
June 12, 2009 by Paul Maric
They say he lives and breathes frames-per-second and hates all people named Nik and the word ‘on’. He is our spy photographer and he has snapped a gauntlet of cars this week, the first of which is Ford’s 2012 T6 Ranger.
Although we have already seen the white vehicle pictured below, the close up of the rear gives you a sneak peek under the Ranger’s skirt, in addition to seeing a new profile in high-resolution.
In addition to the white car, we now also have pictures of a black T6 which seems to be a more advanced prototype, clad with car-bras and geeky looking headlights.
Again these were spotted testing in Victoria, Australia, and Ford Australia spokesperson Sinead McAlary told CarAdvice:
“Australia is the global project leader and is developing the vehicle for worldwide markets”
From that, we gather that Ford Australia will also be undertaking the development work for sister brand Mazda.

Goodness! It looks like a Jap ute.
They all look the same in this class.
Who would have thought, Ford Oz has engineering talent!
Good to see Ford Oz alive and healthy, contrary to the rumors.
Boring Boring Boring…….Next story please………and I hope it comes with sound :)
lol Golfschwein
i was about to say… looks like any generic dual cab ute you see at the council car park
can’t really say much at this junction but it looks about as uncomfortable in the back as the current rodeo/crewman/navara whatever piece of crap ute is out there
didn’t mind the back of the triton though…
My employer has quite large fleet of vehicles that includes trade vehicles, family sedans and 4WD’s from numerous brands such as Toyota, Holden, Ford, Nissan, Mitsubishi etc.
I have driven most of them including all kinds of domestic cars in my short 27 years and I can say with out a doubt that the current Ford Ranger is by far the worst vehicle I have ever driven!
The Ranger at work is avoided like the plague and is only ever driven when nothing else is available. It handles and drives like a shopping cart with 3 bung wheels.
Why anyone would buy one of these over a Hilux, Navarra etc, I will never understand?
Ford has a lot of improvements and changes for this model if it is even going to be half way decent.
Jimbo, I drive a turbo skyline and an xr6t and i admit i kinda like the idea of a ‘jacked up ute’ like an Isuzu d-max but am put off by the hopeless back room, poor crash ability and the poor driveabilty… especially with 1990s throwbacks like the Isuzu/Colorado twins and the excreble D22 navara
they are getting better… it’s the go anywhere ‘vibe’ much like how people buy 4wd Territorys and toorak tractors but never venture out of the North Shore.
My ‘dream’ (bad dream maybe) is a crew cab ute under 1.5 ton with one of those new Korean CRDi 2.2 litre diesels with 150kW and 435Nm… i hope someone can get them to handle and have the interior not look like a looted store.
I drive work Rodeos and Colorados and they are crappy 2 ton petrol whores. And wow are they fun to park!
especially in the CBD car parks
Not to mention guys these are test mules, final stying cannot be seen…
It’s a brand new global model.
Adam Im not interested in looking at mules,I want to hear if they have heard the Coyote testing at the track……..
Good spotting
Seen your carparazzi has been bust down YouYangs way! :-)
Looks like any other dual-cab-ute, a more outstanding looking vehicle is the Mitsu job.
Race is on to be the first with interior and underbonnet photos.
*SCOOP* Could the IL6 from the Falcon/Terri live under that bonnet in ULP/LPG form?
Cheers

The Amorak will slay this thing in all departments. But it will cost more.
This is still 3 years away.
insight via these photos will be of no use.
Lets hope it carries Falcon/Territory drivability traits
Oh, is that LHD I see???
looks bigger?
The black one has Familiar Mazda Shaped nosecone (grille etc) and what definately looks like a Mazda shape and size badge in the centre (Squarish as opposed to Ford’s oval).
I now they are essentially the same car, but why call it a ford when everything on it says mazda…?
