2015 Lexus GS F teased ahead of Detroit debut

Update: Lexus has confirmed the model that will debut at the 2015 Detroit auto show to be the all-new Lexus GS F.

A new Lexus F has been teased ahead of its full unveiling at the 2015 Detroit motor show.

Toyota's luxury marque released two teaser images of the car's front-end, but isn't saying too much about the vehicle at this stage.

Despite that the lack of official information, there's a high likelihood that the new car is the production version of the GS F sedan that our spy photographers caught testing in Europe in late September.

The high-performance GS nabbed in those photographs seem to share the same aggressively cut spindle grille and front air intakes as the car featured in Lexus' teaser images.

That said, though, the prototype vehicle we spotted testing in Europe featured the GS' current one-piece headlight units. The new F model, partially unveiled overnight by Lexus, features a two-piece design with a thin LED driving light spear sitting underneath a narrow strip housing the main and high beams.

If the new Lexus F model is indeed the GS F, expect it feature a version of the 5.0-litre petrol V8 used in the RC F coupe. This should endow the mid-sized Lexus with between 373kW and 410kW of power in order to take on BMW M5, Audi RS6 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG, among others.
