2015 Lexus RC F priced from $133,500, Carbon variant to cost $147,500

The high-performance Lexus RC F coupe will cost $133,500 before on-road costs – undercutting its direct German rivals by more than $20,000.

Confirmation of the RC F’s pricing comes just days after CarAdvice exclusively revealed that the new two-door sports car would cost from $145,000 driveaway following a conversation with a Lexus representative at last weekend’s Cavallino Cars and Coffee event in Sydney.

Lexus Australia today confirmed it will launch with two RC F variants: the regular version and the $147,500 RC F Carbon model, which features a bonnet, roof panel, rear spoiler and interior trim made from lightweight carbonfibre, as well as alcantara seat upholstery.

Both come in well under the price of their German muscle car rivals: the $156,400 Audi RS5, the $159,507 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG 507, and the $166,430 BMW M4.

The RC F will look to go toe-to-toe with the trio in the performance stakes. Its 351kW/530Nm 5.0-litre V8 compares favourably with the 331kW/430Nm 4.2-litre Audi, the 317kW/550Nm twin-turbo inline-six BMW and the 373kW/610Nm 6.2-litre V8 Mercedes.

Lexus says it will also come with “high levels of standard features”, including many that are optional on rivals. Local specifications will be finalised closer to the RC F’s launch in February.

Lexus Australia CEO Sean Hanley says the RC F will be a fitting halo model for the brand.

“Everything about the RC F symbolises the passion Lexus designers and engineers have for their vehicles and puts the cherry on top of the RC line following the launch of RC350 in November,” Hanley said.

“RC F matches a great-sounding, high-output 5.0-litre V8 with a fantastic chassis that rewards the performance-minded buyer with an incredible driving experience.

“It also provides drivers and their passengers with high levels of safety on top of aggressive styling that is ideally suited to the vehicle’s high-performance intentions.”

The Lexus RC F will become generally available in February, though Lexus says selected dealers will carry preview models from now until then.
