Walkinshaw Performance launches W507 package for HSV GTS

Walkinshaw Performance Products has launched its first enhancement kit for the Gen-F HSV GTS, the W507 package.

More than a year in the making, the W507 pack includes a number of high-performance Walkinshaw-developed components that boost power by 77kW and torque by 110Nm.

The result is a peak power output of 507kW at 6200rpm and peak torque of 850Nm at 4400rpm from the W507-enhanced GTS’s supercharged 6.2-litre V8.

The upgrades include a unique cold air intake and dual active cat back exhaust, ceramic-coated headers and cats, a pulley upgrade, and a new ECU calibration.

The package costs $7990 supplied and fitted, and can be added to all Gen-F HSV GTS sedans ($94,490-$96,990 before on-road costs) and GTS Maloo utes ($87,990-$90,490 before on-road costs).

The pack also includes W507 badging, a certificate of authenticity, and a balance of new vehicle driveline warranty.

Walkinshaw recently conducted the W507 package’s final testing program with 20 Gen-F HSV GTS owners in Shepparton, Victoria, to ensure it lived up to the company’s goal of delivering “maximum excitement and great driveability”.

“The feedback from these GTS owners was invaluable for us but most importantly confirmed we exceeded their expectations with what we have produced,” explained Walkinshaw Performance lead engineer Andy Richardson.

“The torque is very linear and delivers on our goal of great driveability. Feedback from the owners centred on the refinement of the package, and a lack of harshness which some had come to expect.”

Walkinshaw Performance general manager Tony Harris described the W507 kit as “the best engineered package we have ever produced”.

“It feels incredibly powerful, even more than the 507kW indicated, and that is due to how each component in the package has been designed to complement each other.”

The W507 package is available through Walkinshaw Performance’s national dealer network.

Harris said availability would be limited in the lead up to Christmas due to supply issues but would free up in 2015.

“There are over 200 orders waiting to be filled and we are confident we will have every one fitted by the end of February,” Harris said.
