2015 Jaguar XF to debut in New York in April – report

Autocar claims the timing is significant – April aligning with the first deliveries of the hugely important Jaguar XE in Europe, and coming a few months ahead of the compact model’s launch into the US, ensuring hype around the British brand remains high.

The all-new Jaguar XF will debut roughly eight years after its predecessor, the original XF, replaced the S-Type in 2007.

The second-gen model will share its aluminium architecture, dubbed iQ[Al], with the XE and all future Jaguar models. It will be lighter than before despite being larger overall, with a focus on increasing rear passenger and cargo space.

The introduction of JLR’s new Ingenium family of four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines will also save up to 80kg under the new XF’s bonnet, promising handling and agility gains.

Evolution rather than revolution will define the design of the second-generation Jaguar XF, with the new model set to build on the more dynamic and technical styling of the XE.

Spy photos of a prototype wearing production body panels captured in September revealed familiar sleek, sweeping lines, though a silhouette with a more upright front grille and a stubbier rear.

Expect few surprises at either end, where Jaguar’s trademark sinister headlights, prominent grille and slim, horizontal tail-lights will again be applied to the large luxury sedan.

The second-generation Jaguar XF is unlikely to reach Australia until the first half of 2016, with the XE earmarked for a third-quarter 2015 launch.
