Toyota Corolla RZ special edition launches from $22,290

The Toyota Corolla RZ special edition has launched in Australia, injecting a dose of sporting flair into the top-selling small hatch range.

Priced from $22,290 before on-road costs with the standard six-speed manual transmission and $24,540 with the optional automatic continuously variable transmission (CVT), Toyota says the Corolla RZ adds $2000 in features for just $1000 over the Ascent Sport on which it’s based.

Unique exterior enhancements include 16-inch gloss black alloy wheels and matching black front badge surround, lower grille edge, lower rear bumper, and the panel beneath the tailgate glass.

RZ decals line the lower grille, door panels and tailgate, completing the sporty look.

Six exterior colours are available – Wildfire, Inferno, Tidal Blue, Crystal Pearl, Silver Pearl and Positano Bronze – with all optional hues included in the price.

The cabin also benefits from the introduction of satellite navigation, which is accessible via the already standard 6.1-inch central touchscreen, and special RZ floor mats front and rear.

The Corolla RZ features the 103kW/173Nm 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol engine familiar from the rest of the line-up.

The special edition small car becomes the second RZ in Toyota Australia’s line-up, joining the Camry RZ, which costs from $31,990.
