The chinese bought the company but wouldn’t the Hummer still be made in America as the deal saves the jobs there? Though that’s not exactly reassuring since we all know most american cars aren’t known for their quality either.

Exactly how do yoy think that you have been vindicated? GM has sold Hummer to China not Holden. I don’t recall you “calling it” a year ago that GM would sell the Hummer brand to china.
There is little evidence yet, that Holden will be sold off at all.

Yes I agree Chinese assembled not necessarily a bad thing but if they make the components i.e discrete electronic components like capacitors etc then don’t expect the same longetivity out of your appliances/electronics goods.

Printed cct assemblies are also poor having many high resistance joint issues.The solder they use is again not of this world.LOL

Chinese tools for example are definitely made of metals not of this world regardless of the branding.LOL.

You must remember they collected all available pots and pans in the last great leap forward.LOL

Anyway it is a communist system and this will always stand in the way of the transparency required for quality control regardless. Matel was just the tip of the iceberg.

It’s been a while since I’ve been on the site. Having read some of the silly comments and arguments on this page alone makes me think it could almost be counted as comedy gold.

Hummers do nothing for me. About them being sold off to a Chinese company? It would be interesting to see how the people who say “I like Hummers, they’re so big and tough.” will think of that.

Oh Bavarian Missile lighten up it was abit of a joke. Look personally if they built Commodores in China and if that was to happen, i doubt the quality would be any worse than what it is here in Australia and I`m sure the blind faithfull would still buy them.

Yeah I know. All Japanese domestic Klugers will come from China. No word on where that leaves Australia for supply or build.
I’m not sure whether it’s actually encouraging for the local production plans or the nail in the coffin. It’ll all come down to plant capacities (here and China), tax perks and govt handouts.

Nah Realcars…………. if a good quality control company oversee’s their manufacturing they can make some good stuff.Like in most Companies, its the management in the factories that cut corners and pass bad habits to the workers.

You would be shocked if you actually knew how much stuff is made there ,I know Audi have their fabrics made there Cannon have some of their components and Giant bikes .

The factory that makes our stuff also makes products for Olympus in Japan ! They ship the components back to Japan and they assemble them,then whack on a “Made in Japan “decal on it!

Given the right training they will make good stuff ,like any Company really!

If you remember Thailand in the 80s was renown for making crap,now they churn out some good stuff ,including cars .

I am not really worried about Hummer because it is just a toss anyway.I am more concerned about class leading companies like vauxhal and opel .I think in the next couple of years the automotive industry is going to undergo some drastic changes,i am a brand loyalist but seriosly how many brands do we need ,as long as the vehicle is safe, practicle and also blisteringly fast we will all drive it.

And for every 45 new cars sold, to an individual, there are 55 new cars sold to fleet, and over 300 used car deals. Used car sales outperform new sales by more than 3-1, and the vast majority of used car sales are Falcodores. To suggest that “people” don’t buy Falcodores, as Millatime did above, is baseless. If ex-fleet cars were not available so readily, then sales of the fleet favourites to individuals would be higher.
And BTW most auto sites DO have stories on used cars!
