Why did the US GovCo save GM, and not PanAm, Arthur Anderson, Enron etc and all the other large US concerns?

Is the new Prez gunning for brownie-points already?

Hate to say it, but the whole lot should have been broken up and sold/amalgamated with others.

Its alleged they have to pay back the loan,,,,when?

Time will tell!

Cheers

Bailout 2008, a poem by David Jeffrey:

Like a bloodied warrior,
laying broken and torn.

Like a dying soldier, hopeless and forlorn.

But the blood, it be green,
the color of money.

And the soldier is an economy,
and it is anything but funny.

Broken are it’s people and shattered are their dreams.

Thanks to the ultra rich and their full proof schemes.

It is a tragedy with more pain to come.

Finance will be Hell, and their wills will be done.

Devil, why do you wish for Holden to out of GM. The Holden you know and love has ALWAYS BEEN GM. Holden, as a car manufacturer, never existed without GM.

Murano, screw illiterate inbred folk like Hummertime, I'm with you. Hopefully Holden can find itself a buyer, however it seems it is one of the cornerstones of GM's bankruptcy recovery and therefore not up for sale, unless a US bankruptcy judge determines it so.

What I would give to see Holden in the hands of a european company!

Hummer,
This is a platform to express views, positive, nuetral or negative. If you can't handle views contrary to what you hold, you should refrain from posting messages.
It is my view that GM had squandered their position as the largest auto company in the world but producing cars that can't sell, even in America. Look at BMW, VW, Audi, Toyota and Nissan - their cars are accepted worldwide. Nothing magical, just well made sensible cars. Do you need to be told why we have a situation like this? For crying out loud, take a look around you!!!
BTW, you don't own the message board and I'll continue to post my views so long as the owner of this message board allows me to do so.
Meanwhile, do some going up.

Flying High, however don't forget that GM STILL sell more vehicles in the US than any other maker.
Lack of overall sales (and therefore by extension the product) is not necessarily the problem, it's the lack of efficiency in the company.

Having read the recent news about GM, none of the stories seem to state the bleeding obvious, being that apart from hopeless money squandering management, people simply are not buying enough cars from GM - in many cases for perceived problems and lack of value for money - even if they do some Euro icons fall under the GM umbrella.

This problem is unlikely to change anytime soon, because the buyers attitude will not be turned around so quick - and that assumes that GM is even able or willing to acknowledge and do something about the fundamental issues which have caused people to stop buying their cars in the first place.

Sadly, bankruptcy of any sort means someone somewhere is not getting paid. This is not a happy place for all involved.

Finally, financial reality has caught up with an auto icon that has been consistently over a century dishing out crap. I hope Holden will soon find a responsible buyer and get on with life.
