Citroën reveals inside of new DS3
June 1, 2009 by Matt Brogan
Citroën has provided its first hint at the interior styling of the all-new DS3 by unveiling a new iteration of the DS Inside concept model.
At its launch in 2010, the DS3 will present owners with an unprecedented range of touches to express their personality, and the haute-couture cabin of the latest DS Inside goes some way to previewing the level of detail and individuality that will be available.
The dashboard is flowing and airy, whilst the instrument cluster, steering wheel and low, body-hugging seats extend the feeling of dynamism. Black chrome touches around the cabin and a thick lounge style carpet, leave the DS Inside exuding class, style and distinction.
The concept is strikingly finished with a premium leather roof in pearlescent ivory with a powder-like finish that bears the DS insignia.
The styling project for the DS line has been led by British designer, Mark Lloyd. Beginning with the DS3, the new DS line will deliver a powerful identity to the Citroën family. Representing “Different Spirit”, it will present an identity strong on modernity and distinction, drawing its DNA clearly from Citroën’s history of innovation and unforgettable design.

this car is cool – and i really like the interior! =]
To bad we won’t get to see it in Australia anytime soon.
well at least they’re starting to look better and better
Funnily enough the dash is (so far) the only part of this new vehicle that hat any semblance to it’s namesake…. Maybe thay could put the button brake on the floor again :-)
they describe it as if its a lounge room. But looks good inside anyway. WHy oh why dont Citroen make cars like this for OZ anymore.
Frontman, I don’t think this particular model is about being faithful to the name. It looks like Citroen is turning DS into their Lexus, a higher class brand name. There are going to be bigger DS cars that hopefully will be more like the original. I must say though, I’d really like to have seen the hydro pneumatic suspension on a supermini. It would have given it an edge too, a nice comfy one.
I am really liking this car. I would never buy one to replace my Minis, or even one of them, but I would like to buy one to sit next to them. And that is a very nice interior.
Alex, GS Cub had Hydropneumatic and made great little car, wonder if they would be game enough to go down that road again? It still doesn’t look that old (basic shape wise) now.
This is funky, but hardly groundbreaking, and too fussy in the detailing to out-chic the car it’s aimed at (Mini-Cooper). Anyone old enough to remember when the original DS hit the streets in 1955 would know what a truly futuristic design it was at the time – a Learjet in a flock of Tiger Moths. What a shame Citroen couldn’t recreate history.
Citroen has said the car will come here
Looks mostly good, but I think the designers forgot to design the lower part of the centre consol. Instead, they used a generic geeky modern radio/CD unit. If Fiat could do it properly with it’s new 500 then why can’t Citroen?
Would want to be a HUGE improvement over the traditional interior of French cars, which quality/design has been a shocker for years.
Looks ok!
Please bring back a new DS, another 10 year leap over the others, can history repeat?
Cheers
