Yamashima’s comments are a further blow to Formula 1. The pre-season withdrawal of Honda and recently announced departure of BMW

All I can say is….

So much for Toyotas 5 year Commitment to F1 and having resources finances and management structure to withstand any of the problems experienced by ordinary car manufacturers

There is little to be gained from saying your cars have F1 technology (even when they don’t) when your F1 cars are always at the back of the grid.

Yamashima said the continued cost of competing in F1 will force Toyota to reconsider its motorsport program, especially in the wake of forecasts suggesting the parent company will suffer a net loss of more than $AUD5 billion for 2009.

The Japanese outfit is yet to finalise its budget for 2010. It has also notified drivers Jarno Trulli and Timo Glock that their services will not be required for next year.

In the last F1 race held in Monaco Toyota qualified second last and last! Unsurprisingly, they did not score a single championship point in that race. Actually, the last time Toyota F1 scored any championship points was three races ago!

Toyota started the season well but have not kept pace with the other teams, and from the next race this weekend in Turkey they’ll begin a long and miserable slide down to the bottom end of the Constructors Championship.

They may be coming 3rd – yet its taken them 6 years and over $300m to get there….

However; given that they have a budget which is bigger than the other F1 teams you would expect them to be leading.[particularly with the theory of Kaizen etc]

Therefore; the fact that they are coming 3rd all it is saying is that there are 2 other teams with smaller budgets doing more with their cars and other resources than Toyota.

“richo” you have no idea about F1, toyota are sitting in 3rd place and are having a lot better year, there doing way better than BMW (bavarian motor w*#kers) BMW are right on the bottom in 8th place and going nowhere this year!i guess if they have no use for old parts why not sell them, hell honda sold there whole team!
