Alex. I recently attended a presentation on hybrid vehicles where I was assured the batteries were recycled at the end of their life so you can sleep easy. I'm not offended that you've labelled me one of the "least intelligent people ever to leave a comment on CA" because given your comment on engineering costs and hydrogen your obviously very young with little or no concept of reality or consequence. Perhaps next time your feeling emotional and angry think about using your inside voice.

Seen a Prius drive past my place the other week. And the idiot driver threw his cigarette butt out the window which, during the recent floods would have washed down the drain, into the river and out to sea, where some poor, unsuspecting sea creature, thinking its a bug floating on the surface of the water, would have eaten it and probably choked to death.

Now isnt that the height of hypocrisy, and from a Toyota driver too. Who would of thunk it. ;)

My point is, a lot of people who drive a hybrid probably dont really care about the environment, they just want to "be seen to be green."

Sorry. Accidentally pressed Submit Comment.

Supply & Demand, I read your post and have read other posts from you on this website and although you are obviously entitled to your own opinion, I just wanted to write that I think you are one of the least intelligent people ever to have left a comment on CA.
More hybrids is the last thing we need. All they are is a quick fix. They still use oil and the effects that the batteries will have on the environment in thirty years if they are selling them in millions every year will be diabolical. They still need to be engineered as well and engineering costs money, money that could go into hydrogen production.
Your comment has gone some way to me losing faith in that people were starting to realise that most petrol cars will get pretty close to a hybrid’s economy anyway and diesels often surpass it without the batteries.

"This news post has gone some way to restoring my faith that society will progress". That is just such a silly way to think about hybrids. They are not progress, they are taking us back!

Tom despite whether the companies such as Makita; Bosch; DeWalt; Hitachi; or Ryobi are Japanese German ir American - the majority of their products are actually made in factories china [in some cases the same factory] which produce huge volumes of tools everyday - which is why they look the same and have similar features.

The difference as to whether or not a Dewalt Drill is better than a Ryobi [apart from personal preference] is the Quality control policies implemented by management of the respective companies..

The better quality control the better the quality the product the better quality thr oproduct the better the companys name reputation or image the better the image the higher the price.. so you get what you pay for
