Holden Barina Trio : Bonus features for base city car

The special edition Holden Barina Trio has joined the brand’s city car line-up, adding three new features to the base model for just $1000.

Based on the entry-level Holden Barina CD hatch, the Trio gets an electric sunroof, front fog lights, and the brand’s MyLink infotainment system – features that Holden claims have a combined value of more than $2000.

MyLink allows smartphone users to connect their device to the car via Bluetooth to access integrated in-car applications such as Pandora, Stitcher and TuneIn radio, as well as BringGo navigation.

Holden says just 450 Barina Trio special editions will be made available in 2014. The Trio is available with the five-speed manual transmission from $16,390 and the six-speed automatic from $18,590.

The Holden Barina produces 85kW and 155Nm from its 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, and consumes 6.7-6.8 litres per 100 kilometres on the combined cycle.

Holden will be hoping the Trio renews buyer interest in the Barina, with sales of the city car down 28 per cent this year to 5060. It currently sits in eighth position in the segment that’s headed by the Hyundai i20 (11,285) and Mazda 2 (10,143).
