French court rejects Ferrari injunction
May 21, 2009 by Matt Brogan
A French court has rejected a bid by Ferrari to prevent Formula One’s governing body, the FIA, from introducing controversial new rules next season.
Ferrari went to the Tribunal de Grande Instance in Paris to try and stop the International Automobile Federation (FIA) from pressing ahead with an optional 40 million pounds (AUD$80.9 million) cap.
Ferrari has threatened to quit Formula One if the published rules are not rewritten. Renault, Toyota and Red Bull’s two teams have taken a similar stance.
The published 2010 regulations propose allowing teams who accept the cap greater technical freedom than those wishing to carry on with unlimited budgets.
While Ferrari has said this would make it a two-tier championship it cannot accept, Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone and FIA president Max Mosley have said they expect all teams to race to one set of regulations.

Can someone pleas deliver a box of tissues to Ferrari!
Funny how they complain when their cars arent at the front anymore
How then Mick do you explain Red Bull supporting Ferrari’s threat, along with Toyota and Renault? Red Bulls are right up with the Brawns in the competition. Mosley just seems intent on turning F1 into yet another open wheeler motorsport.
Agree Tom. Im hardly a Ferrari sympathiser – but they along with RBR/Toyota/Renault et al are right to fight. FOTA should sack ecclestone and mosley off – glorified PR men, start Formula 1.1 (with profits evenly distributed between the competitors, not fat cats) and be done with it. This is a much bigger issue than one team.
Yeh thay should be giving more money to the teams have you seen the money thay collect for them selfs unbeliveable,No wonder one of them has a whole collection of old f1 cars and hundreds of millions to watse here and there. With out the teams thay would be nothing.Thay should listern bit more to the teams and spread bit more money out to them so the poorer teams wont have to struggle as much
Ferrari is F1, without them its just a race of product placement and English what ifs.
