Maserati Ghibli Ermenegildo Zegna concept unveiled with silk interior

At the Paris motor show, the high-end Italian car maker took the wraps off the Maserati Ghibli Ermenegildo Zegna concept.

Based on the Ghibli S Q4, this latest concept co-production with Ermenegildo Zegna is painted in a unique exterior colour, dubbed azzurro astro or celestial blue. This has been matched with 20-inch alloy wheels with a liquid metal finish.

Given that Ermenegildo Zegna is famous for suits and high fashion, the biggest changes have been saved for the interior.

At this level, the acres of plush leather adorning the seats, arm rests, steering wheel and dashboard are no real surprise. However, for this concept, the centre portions of both the front and rear seats have been fitted out with a micro-chevron silk weave from Ermenegildo Zegna.

A Zegna silk jersey covering has been applied to the car's door panels, sunshades, ceiling lining and pillars. Other embellishments include the carbon fibre trim that's found on the centre tunnel and door panels, as well as aluminium sill plates.

The concept car features a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 churning out 306kW and 550Nm for all four wheels. Maserati claims a 0-100km/h time of 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 284km/h.

There's no official word, yet, on whether the Ermenegildo Zegna version of the Ghibli will make it into production. Given that an earlier silk-laden Ermenegildo Zegna Quattroporte concept morphed into a limited edition vehicle, a similar outcome seems to be on the cards.
