Driver, I’m pretty sure the quattro is a permanent split with rear bias.

Pitty this drivetrain combination (2.0TFSI + 6 speed manual + quattro) is not offered with Audi Sport Differential with torque vectoring

That makes me sad.

^ AAA – there is no supercharger, only a turbocharger with direct injection as well. the same engine is now available in the A5, with 0-100 kph in 6.5 seconds, and 7.5 ltrs per 100 fuel economy.

the audi S4 has a direct injection supercharged 3.0 ltr v6.

whereas vw uses the ‘twin charger’ concept on its 118TSI golf (1.4 ltr, 4 cyl, supercharged and turbocharged) as well as the golf GT.

I don’t know why you would bother with a brand-new A4 when you can get a 1-year-old 2008 model A6 for $55,000 – the same cost as a brand-new A4!!! Audi really have shocking resale value.

like the idea of the S tronic (dual clutch), but it’s still only 155kw which is a tad disappointing. interior looks fantastic and better than those from bmw or merecedes.

am a little confused with audi’s quattro implementation. is this the real deal (full time AWD), or a part time ‘quattro’ setup like in the S3 (FWD normally, but where power diverts to the rears only under FWD slip)?

it is expensive, but maturing tastes tend to prefer a capable car with a lavish interior and ‘badge’ security – so it should do well in the luxury sports segment. looks great too.

It’s a good looking car. I’m just not too keen on the rear end. Hopefully they’ll fix this mid-cycle like they did with the previous B7 A4. I was recently in the US and these Audi A4s are quite popular with high school students, whose parents have a bit more money to spend than the Jetta that so many other students have.
