2016 Porsche Cayman spy photos

The current and second-generation Porsche Cayman was unveiled only in 2012, so it’s interesting to see development mules of an update already testing in public.

Even so, it’s likely that an updated model, pictured here in development form, will not see local Porsche showrooms until the end of next year at the earliest.

Though it’s a little hard to tell from the photos, we suspect the 2016 Porsche Cayman will gain a new front bumper encompassing modified daytime running lights and indicators as well as new headlights.

The rear end will no doubt also get a small update, but that is yet to be seen.

While Porsche will carry the six-cylinder units of the current car, perhaps with minor power tweaks in line with the update, smaller engines remain high on the agenda.

The launch of a reported 295kW four-cylinder Cayman and Boxster remain on the cards with the company’s CEO, Matthias Mueller, confirming plans to Germany’s Auto Motor and Sport magazine back in March.

Nonetheless, it remains to be seen whether the German company will launch the smaller engines with the facelifted model or wait until the next-generation. We suspect the later.
