Its marketed here cheaper than the Golf as well, seem VW really want to make some sales, especially aginst Vlovos C30 which seems to be popping up frequently.

If you go off the new rumors I posted above.

I think you will see the Scirocco Replace the 3 door GTI.

VW Australia have already stated the 5 door GTI is going to launch here, and the 3 door *MAY* come in 2010.

I think they scrapped the idea of the 3 door GTI and opted for the Scirocco to replace it instead.

Then they will release the R20 Golf in 5 door only and the R20 Scirocco as a 3 door only too.

Simple.

I just pray the rumors about it coming later this year are true.

Common VW Australia! if New Zealand can get the car, why cant we!!!???

This is much cooler than the C30. Very cool and very efficient. I reckon it needs no more power… The spec supplied is good.

I personnally don’t think its that great a car. Then theres all those nurds criticising the performance, a 2.0 diesel will easily match the in-gear performance of a commie and use half the fule as well. Great performance.
And we have them in the UK. Tee Hee.

My view is VW Aus will bring the Scirocco alongside the GTI MKVI. The GTI will only be available in 4 door, the Scirocco is the one you get if you want 2 doors. That leaves the door open for the GTI-R, R20, R25, R40 in AWD to replace the R32, but also the Scirocco can be fitted with the same engine (whichever one it turns out to be – I’d love the 2,5 5cyl turbo version………)

But that’s just my speculation, and my wish list. A 250kw AWD Scirocco – oooh yeah Just add a chip and the Haldex controller upgrade and hang on, baby.

I know this has been said many times, but they seriously need to bring this car to Australia.

The reason they won’t bring it is the GTI, and yet, if you think about it, the GTI is sold in every other country in which the Scirocco is sold so really it doesn’t matter if it will slow GTI sales as its doing it in every other country.

Come on VW, give us something nice for a change!

Amazing performance specs for a car that uses such a small amount of fuel! Fantastic. And great looking to boot.

Of course in the current economic climate it will bomb in the Oz market. 2 doors and high prices? It will only take some sales off the existing Golf range and not increase overall sales to VW.

Steve, I thought the same thing (C30). Having driven the C30 and the s40 in D5 form, I’d have guessed they’d be a little quicker than 8 secs (volvo tend to overestimate 0 – 100 speeds), but strewth are they noisy! As much as I am a volvo boy, I like the front of the VW better.
