Thinking the same applies to Opel.

No love loss for Saab from you lot downunder then. GM made little investment in Saab and as a result they have struggled. I recently drove a 1.9TDi 93 and I can say I was impressed enough to say I might rather be in this than an A4 mostly due to the overwhelming numbers of the latter on our roads. The build quality was OK the engine (same as a Vectra) performance was excellent only the 6 speed Auto box let the fuel economy down but thats expected for a slush box.
Saab will no doubt survive and flourish, hopefully cutting ties with markets that don’t like them!! Then and only then will they be missed.

I love SAAB, there i said it. Given their designs might be abit old but i still love them. I hope that they do survivie and that their new owners do a good job, personally i think that it is a shame Fiat isnt one of the potential buyers of SAAB becuase they could do with a design update…

If any corporation could nurture the crumbling remains of Saab I believe it would be Fiat. With such niche brands under its belt like Alfa Romeo and Lancia I think they would be able to let Saab do there own thing, and be successful.

Whatever happens I’d rather see Saab churning out new and modern products for many years to come! The Saab 9-3 with an interior pinched from an Audi would be a dream i reckon !
