2009 BMW 3 Series Coupe facelift spied
May 6, 2009 by Alborz Fallah
While the BMW 3 Series sedan and wagon have already received their mid-life facelifts, these first shots show the Coupé is next in line to receive a new look along with the cabriolet.
The subtle camouflage suggests this will be only a mild refresh of the design, differentiating the Coupé as more of a performance model.
These will include changes to the grille and headlights, as well as a re-design of the rear bumper and the taillights.

The facelifted Coupé and Cabrio are supposed to make their official debuts at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show.

I hope they don’t change it too much. The 3 series coupe is one of the best looking cars you can buy IMHO.
doesn’t look much different… they should just make the interior look better
I hope they don’t have larger mirrors and bonnet creases like the E90 LCI…
It’s a great looking car as it is, so hopefully not too many changes.
CA, i think that your site is great but your news is abit old, i saw this a week ago on another site…
Does anyone know exactly when the facelift will be available in Australia? I’m about to put down a deposit for a 325 convertible and obviously I’d like to wait for the facelift.
Thanks
Chloe, I read on another website that it’s expected early 2010 so that probably means mid 2010 for Australia. If you want one, get it. Previous BMW facelifts show that there probably won’t be much difference between the face lifted and the non-face lifted. It will go especially unnoticed if you get a black one.
Can I suggest that you hold the deposit though? You may have your heart set on the BMW but the new Audi A5 Cabriolet will be coming here in the next few months and all reviews that I have read say that it’s the new best in class. Not to mention that you’d have the current model of your car for about six or seven years. The BMW will be replaced in about three and a half.
You wouldn’t get the folding hard top but apparently the Audi is as refined with the roof up as the coupe and it too has fantastic engines and an even better interior.
As I wrote, you may well have your heart set on the BMW but I would suggest that you waited and at least had a look at the BMW’s new biggest opposition.
Good Luck.
The problem with the A5 is the expense – the options list is longer and more expensive than an E92 3 series.
A5 only has a nice look to me.
i ve bought a 325 m coupe last year, the reason why i didnt buy an A5 was because of the tiny back seats, and A5 is a bit expensive if you actually add up a few options. the basic navigation system cost around 6K, where it is standard on BMW. but they do look very good.
anyway, i think if A5 wants to compete with the whole BMW coupe/convertible line up, they need a smaller engine.
