2015 Ferrari 458 M : turbocharged supercar spotted undergoing testing

A new turbocharged Ferrari 458 - reportedly known as the Ferrari 458 M - has been spied ahead of a possible debut at the 2015 Geneva motor show in March.

The new model is said to use a heavily modified 3.9-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, which has already been employed in the California T. The new turbocharged Ferrari 458 is expected to produce considerably more than that car's 412kW and 755Nm, with some reports suggesting a power output of about 500kW.

Should it produce that much grunt, it would easily outgun the run-of-the-mill 458 which has a 4.5-litre V8 with 419kW/450Nm, while the 458 Speciale has 445kW.

The images give little away about what is powering the 458 M, but it does appear to  have more bulbous wheel arches that, at the rear at least, appear to have some additional sculpting under the white wrapping. It is almost certain the camouflage hides new air intakes that will feed cold air to the mid-mounted, twin-turbo powerplant.

Other rear-end changes include a new set of exhaust pipes, which move away from the eye-catching triple-tip setup of the 458 to a more conventional double pipe layout, with the tips expected to poke through the restyled rear bumper bar.

Stay tuned for more news on the 2015 Ferrari 458 M as it comes to hand.
