2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport scale models leaked

The 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport has been revealed… in scale model form, at least.

An image has surfaced online showing two Discovery Sport models, giving us our first undisguised look at the new-generation premium mid-sized SUV ahead of its official unveiling at the 2014 Paris motor show.

The models represent two different trim levels of the new Discovery Sport, which will replace the Freelander nameplate in the British car maker’s global line-up.

The black model on the right features silver alloy wheels – identical to those on Land Rover’s camouflaged prototype revealed late last month – and a silver grille, while the orange model on the left wears black wheels and has a matching grille and roof.

Both have horizontal LED daytime running light strips in their bumpers, ‘Discovery’ badging along the bonnet edge and silver panels at the base of the windscreen, full-length panoramic glass sunroofs, and rear spoilers at the end of the roof.

The 2015 Discovery Sport takes inspiration from the Land Rover Discovery Vision concept that debuted at April’s New York auto show. Previously reserved for the brand’s largest SUV, the Discovery name will stretch to a family of models, mirroring the company’s strategy with its luxury Range Rover and Range Rover Sport lines.

Land Rover teased the interior of the Discovery Sport late last week, giving a sneak peek at its new seven-seat layout, expansive sunroof, steering wheel and instrument cluster.

The Discovery Sport will debut on September 3 before replacing the Freelander in Australian showrooms in May 2015.
