Renault Koleos Sport Way limited edition announced

The limited edition Renault Koleos Sport Way has this week launched in Australia, offering a range of additional features that the company hopes will help its largely unheralded offering better stand out in the crowded medium SUV market.

The Sport Way edition builds on the existing BOSE specification, and is exclusively a front-wheel-drive proposition. The 2.5-litre petrol version costs $37,490 plus on-road costs and the 2.0-litre diesel comes in at $39,490, $1500 more than the BOSE but countered by $2300 worth of extras.

This extra equipment includes a high-definition rear view camera, heated front seats, 18-inch wheels from the Privilege variant, a black leather interior with red stitching highlights, deep crimson highlights around the centre console and aluminium accents. All models are painted metallic black.

As with the Koleos BOSE, the Sport Way offers a standard blind-spot monitor and the same BOSE sound system as standard.

Only 100 units of the Sport Way will be offered, Renault says. Australia, interestingly, is the first market to get the car.

“The Renault Koleos competes in one of the most crowded market segments in Australia and we are thrilled to be able to offer this limited edition product offering for customers who want a sportier looking medium SUV,” said Renault Australia managing director Justin Hocevar.

“When customers encounter the Koleos for the first time they are constantly impressed by how spacious, comfortable and well equipped the vehicle is… we are confident the Koleos Sport Way Limited Edition will be well received by those looking for a medium SUV.”

All Renault passenger cars have a five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty and five years of roadside assist. All have 12-month servicing intervals and are covered by Renault’s Capped Price servicing program, in which the first three services are pegged at $299 apiece.

Renault has sold just 755 Koleos' in 2014, down 30 per cent on last year. Its share of the mainstream (non-luxury) medium SUV market led by the Mazda CX-5 is 1.2 per cent.
