2015 Ford Mustang spotted in right-hand-drive guise for the first time

This could be the first ever Ford Mustang built in right-hand-drive from the factory floor.

The image - posted by SVT Performance, courtesy of Ford Motor Company - shows an apparent 2015 Ford Mustang Convertible prototype. Never before has the blue oval brand sent a right-hand-drive Mustang from the line at its production plant, though many conversion companies have made money switching the US muscle car's left-twirler to suit markets such as Australia.

Ford has confirmed the sixth-generation Mustang will be sold in 25 right-hand-drive markets, including Australia, the United Kingdom and South Africa. The left-hand-drive version of the Mustang Convertible was unveiled in Australia in 2013 (see above image).

The new-generation Mustang will be offered with a range of engines globally, including a 2.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder EcoBoost engine (with 231kW/433Nm), a 3.7-litre V6 (with 224kW/379Nm) and a 5.0-litre V8, as seen above, with 324kW and 542Nm. Australia will take a two-tier Mustang range from the second half of 2015, with the four- and eight-cylinder versions set to be offered.
