2015 Volvo XC90 :: first look at SUV’s new face

The first official image of the 2015 Volvo XC90 has been released, revealing the headlight design of the all-new large luxury SUV.

The tightly cropped teaser image highlights the second-generation XC90’s T-shaped LED daytime running lights, dubbed ‘Thor’s Hammer’ by the design team after the Norse god of thunder.

“Anyone who looks in their rear-view mirror is going to know immediately that there is an all-new XC90 behind them,” said Volvo senior vice president of design Thomas Ingenlath.

“The XC90 is a car that has presence on the road.”

Also visible are LED main beams and eight circular LEDs in the lower quadrant of the headlight assembly closest to the multi-slat satin chrome grille.

The 2015 Volvo XC90 will be unveiled in full in two weeks’ time at an exclusive event in Stockholm.

The BMW X5 rival will headline the Swedish brand’s stand at the Paris motor show in October before reaching Australian showrooms around May 2015.

The image is the latest in a long line of second-gen XC90 teasers from Volvo, following the unveiling of its interior, details of its infotainment system, announcement of its powertrain line-up, and highlights of its advanced safety technologies.
