2015 Ford Falcon XT spied

A CarAdvice reader has sent in two images that appear to uncover the 2015 Ford Falcon XT for the first time.

Though low-resolution, the rear-three-quarter shot provides a fresh angle on the Falcon sedan’s overhauled back half, while the tightly cropped front-side image highlights its headlights and front bumper, alloy wheel design and side indicators.

A black diffuser panel appears to be the only distinguishing feature between the entry-level Falcon XT and the high-grade G6E revealed in an image posted on Facebook last week, which has a body-colour insert.

As expected, the base model Falcon will gain a reverse-view camera, which is visible as the black spot beneath the chrome strip to the left of the Ford badge. Rear parking sensors are also visible in the main bumper panel.

While it’s difficult to make out in the above image, it appears the XT will retain ‘Falcon’ badging on the left side of its bootlid. The designation on the right side may be an ‘EcoBoost’ badge, with the Falcon again set to be offered with the choice of 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo and 4.0-litre inline six-cylinder engines.

The front-side image provides a clear look at the XT’s 10-spoke alloy wheel pattern.

The entry variant also features orange side indicators like the XR6 and Ute, unlike the G6E and XR8, which get clear mirror-mounted repeaters. Front parking sensors are another new feature for the XT.

While the front grille and intakes cannot be seen here, the XT sedan is believed to be almost identical to the Falcon Ute spied last week, featuring a satin-chrome-lined hexagonal grille with black horizontal slats.

The final Ford Falcon is due to be released in November alongside the revised Territory SUV before the company ceases local manufacturing in October 2016.
