Our spy photographers have snapped the new Honda NSX undergoing evaluation at the Nurburgring Nordschleife in Germany.

Despite the car’s black-and-white camouflage, we can clearly see the shape of the new Honda NSX, as well as much of its detailing. It’s clear that the production version of the NSX won’t be too different from the concept models that have been gracing the motor show circuit over the past few years.

Changes to the production NSX include narrower and taller wing mirrors, and a new vent behind the front wheel arch. Interestingly the prototype vehicle photographed here wears different alloy wheel designs at the front and the rear, likely to test different wheel weights and sizes or tyre types.

In the photo above we get our first glimpse at the new supercar’s interior.

On the inside we can see that there’s a hooded section above the car’s central touchscreen. This may, as in the current generation Accord, house second high-resolution display for displaying details about the navigation and entertainment systems.

The new NSX will reprise the first car’s mid-engine layout, but instead of a naturally aspirated V6, the second-generation NSX will feature a twin-turbocharged V6 with around 300kW of power at its disposal.

Mated to the blown V6 will be a set of three electric motors, and together these engines will deliver power to all four wheels. A seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission will be standard.

Unlike the first-generation NSX, the engineering for the new car is being led by Honda’s team in the US. The next-generation model will be built at a new $70 million plant in Ohio, while the hybrid drivetrain will also be assembled in the US.

The car is expected to launch in the US around the middle of 2015 and, like the first NSX, will sold there as an Acura. The new Honda NSX has been confirmed for Australia and should grace local showrooms sometime in 2016.
