nope. utah’s a bad choice. salt flats. cars wont be able to reach their top speeds cuz of the loose ground. find a long stretch of pavement and test there. and also the veyron is 3rd fastest behind the ssc (2nd) and the barabus (3rd) another interesting car i found is the zenvo st1. LIMITED to 233 mph.

Its insane to think a car with a top speed of 430 k is real. What we need is to test these bad boys out at the salt flats in utah, see what they can do and then we’ll make the official decision.

Im prety sure that the buggati veyron was the fastest car in the worl because in the wheels magazine it made a top speed of 409 km/h

Good Day you all, can we make a world international race out of this and use all these worlds fastest cars and view it on tv and put an end to the he said they said and let the drivers and cars show us whats really happenining.In any event if you do it have a good time and may the trully fastest car win,by the way no offence whom ever comes 2nd 3rd 4th and so forth but someone has to be first.

A couple of months ago I read an article on a car mag website about the Koenigsegg v Veyron clainm to being the worlds fastest production car.

Apparently when a company plans to break/set a current world record they contact Guinness; organise a date time and venue then arrange for a Guiness official to be present inorder to verify/certify the attempt [if successful]
Koenigsiegg tested their CCX supercar and broke the world record previously held by the BMW McLaren F1.
Guiness gave Koenigsiegg some paperwork to complete and send it to Guiness before the updated record book was published. Which they did
A couple of months later Bugatti tested the Veyron with a Guy from Guiness and it broke the Koenigsieggs record
However; going by the report Bugatti didn’t send the paperwork into Guiness within the specified time making the attempt null and void. so even though the Veyron went faster than the Koenigsiegg [technically]it’s not the worlds fastest production car
Koenigsiegg has since released a 1000+Hp supercar and is planning to break their own Guiness record.

I’m often confused when people say “fastest car”, does it mean “top speed”, or “acceleration”? Somehow comparing speed is getting more and more meaningless while we are paying AUD 1.43 per liter for fuel. Given enough resources, anybody can achieve any top speed they want (unrigorously speaking). It’s like supercomputers, put enough processors together and you get something that can beat Kasparov.

Supercar companies, how about giving us the figures in km per liter per second, or km per liter per second per second? Then again, supercars aren’t for the rest of us, who have to constantly worry about mortgage and the kids crawling on our back.

Thats correct CapnCrunch (its also mentioned at the bottom of the article). However a Topgear topspeed test doesn’t make it official. However I have no doubt the Bugatti is the fastest car (well maybe apart from the Barbrus)
