The all-new 2015 Kia Sorento has been caught ahead of the car’s global debut at the 2014 Paris motor show in October.
The South Korean brand’s seven-seat SUV was spotted by CarAdvice’s spies in the European Alps, and unlike the previous spy shots we’d seen of the Sorento, this version appears to be a heavily camouflaged production model.
The images give plenty away about what to expect in terms of the car’s styling, with the new model seeing a similar diamond-like grille treatment as has been added to the smaller, recently updated Sportage model, not to mention slimmer headlights, a more substantial body, and an entirely new rear-end design.
Further interior changes will include a revised media system and climate controls. It is also expected the new model will be fitted with curtain airbags that extend to the third row, unlike the current model which has ‘bags that only stretch to the second.
In terms of engine options, a 3.3-litre V6 petrol – as will be seen in the new Kia Carnival people-mover when it goes on sale locally by the end of this year – and a tweaked 2.2-litre turbo diesel are expected to be the mainstay powertrains of the new Sorento line-up. A 2.4-litre direct-injection four-cylinder may also be seen.
On top of that, a plug-in hybrid version is rumoured to be offered as a range-topping model. No details of that car have been made public, though.
The new Sorento is excepted to debut in Kia showrooms around Australia in 2015.
