FT2: Koenigsegg CCXR

Having already driven the Veyron, it was only fair that on our return to Europe we would also sample the current flagship of its record-holding predecessor – the Koenigsegg CCXR.

The CCXR has dropped the “world’s fastest” moniker in favour of a new, far more appropriate title – claiming to be the world’s first green supercar.

Its monstrous twin-supercharged 4.7-litre V8 powerplant has been modified to run on E85 and E100 Biofuel as well as normal 98 octane petrol.

Remarkably, on standard 98 octane petrol the engine delivers just over 600kW, but this figure rises to an astonishing 760kW when the car is run on E85 Biofuel – more than the Veyron.

However the only thing more staggering than its performance is its fuel consumption, using a comparatively low 18.0 litres per 100km on E85 fuel.
