Mitsubishi Mirage sedan pricing and specifications

The Mitsubishi Mirage sedan is now available in Australia from $14,490, bolstering the Japanese brand’s top-selling city car line-up.

The pint-sized four-door is based on the five-door Mirage hatch, which has racked up 3916 sales and claimed a commanding 46 per cent share of its segment so far this year.

The new Mitsubishi Mirage sedan is available in two trims: entry-level ES and high-grade LS. The former is offered with a five-speed manual ($14,490) and an automatic continuously variable transmission ($16,490), while the latter is available exclusively with the CVT ($17,490). The prices represent $1500, $2000 and $1000 premiums over their equivalent hatchbacks respectively, before on-road costs.

As with the hatch, the Mirage sedan is powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 57kW at 6000rpm and 100Nm at 4000rpm. Combined cycle fuel consumption of both transmissions is rated at 4.9 litres per 100km, making the 925-940kg sedan slightly thirstier than 50-60kg-lighter hatch (4.6-4.8L/100km).

At 4245mm long, 1670mm wide, 1515mm tall and riding on a 2550mm wheelbase, the Mirage sedan is 535mm longer, 5mm wider and 15mm taller than the hatch, and is 100mm longer between the wheels. Its 450-litre boot is 215L larger than that of the five-door.

The Mirage ES is equipped with 15-inch alloy wheels, manual air conditioning, steering wheel audio and phone controls, and a four-speaker stereo with USB input and Bluetooth phone connectivity with audio streaming.

For an extra $1000, the Mirage LS adds climate control, keyless entry with push-button start, auto headlights and wipers, leather-bound steering wheel, privacy glass, and unique exterior and interior trim elements.

Standard safety features include electronic stability control, six airbags (dual front, front-side and side-curtains), emergency stop signal and hill start assist (CVT only).

The Mitsubishi Mirage sedan is available in four colours: White, Cyber Blue, Red Planet and Cool Silver – the final three attracting a $495 premium.
