Falcon laps the Nürburgring

May 31, 2007 by Paul Maric

Avid Ford fans have salivated over the discovery of an FPV GT-P lapping the Nurburgring…of all places!

The first conclusions drawn from the photos were that it could possibly be an Orion mule. But, such hope was dashed after the following reply from Ford Performance Vehicles Media Manager, Marscelle Tully.

FPV has confirmed that the vehicle photographed was not an FPV or Ford owned car, and was not on any official business for either organisation. We have to assume it is a privately owned vehicle.

Sending an Australian vehicle to the ‘ring can be a costly exercise, so it’s either one devoted owner or a tuning firm after some comparative credentials to brag about.

Either way, it’s great to see one of our own lapping the world famous Nurburgring.

    10min around the ring?

  2. mistertwo says:

That Falcon looks like it has a UK “Tax Disk” in the windscreen (same as Rego) and a Jersey number plate, so that would be a privately owned V8 FPV Facon on an island which has a maximum speed limit of 30mph! You also have to me worth at least 20million pounds (yes pounds $50 million AUD) to live there, unless you were born there and even then you would be pretty rich.

  3. alborz says:

Its most likely a privately owned FPV, but its interesting, as its the first time such a car has been seen on the ring.

  4. Sam™ says:

wonder what time it did. if its from the UK the dude must be a pretty wealth guy, and a pretty loyal aussie ford fan, UK insurance would be heaps, and i mean HEAPS in the uk.

  5. Will Cooper says:

Surprised it made it round. Unless it was just on litter picking duty reading the track for the serious metal to come!

  6. Chatters says:

Look at the 4th shot… Think they need to heighten the suspension??

  7. joemcevoy2 says:

Well as i own the falcon you are writing about i thought i would have my say.

david d, 9 mins around the ring and i will soon have it down to 8.30 / 8.45.

mister two, yes it is a jersey registered car only one in europe, you are wrong with the wealth of people there are plenty of numskulls like you here, the speed limit is 40mph, the car only does trackdays so no need to drive it here.

sam the insurance is £ 780.00 pounds or $1900 aus dollars not bad eh.

    WILL COOPER, YOU ARE A P R I C K.

CHATTERS. I HAVE JUST LOWERED IT TO 100MM ROAD CLEARENCE SWAYBARS REPLACED, CAMBER ADJUSTERS SO SHOULD STOP THE ROLL.

  8. How is that, seeing the Piston machine in full action on the Ring.
Now i have to add that i sat in the passenger seat the day before, picture this:
The driver/owner/pilot has just metioned that this would be his first time around the famous Nurburgring in the wet!

I took a few deep breaths……. held onto the trim and began to pray!

The big green Pistola machine rocks, especially with the sunroof open!

  9. mistertwo says:

Hi Joe, thank you for correcting my comments, but being orignally from the mainland I don’t claim to know everything about the goings on in Jersey. As for calling me a numbskull I think that is a little uncalled for, and the other name calling to other posters. Just another example of the big man on the net is probably a skinny lath in the flesh. There are plenty of rich numbskulls out there and the fact that I have emigrated to Australia on a Skilled Visa proves that I am not. It does however prove that you are, when you could have bought something a hell of a lot better for the money in Europe. By the way, why are you wearing a helmet and the passenger isn’t? (Assuming it is you driving of course) Is your life worth more? Or is that “The Stig” showing you how it’s done?

  10. Sam™ says:

wow, when my mate went to uk and tried to ensure a 1988 bmw 325I (2.5L) it cost £3150 (roughly $7500) for thrid party insurance.

    ouch….

well, at least i get to enjoy non-european fuel prices

  11. The Rimmer says:

    To Mistertwo,

Lets take this to the streets and arrange a full street brawl when your next back in the UK and we’ll kick your ass!

    The Rimmer!

  12. We could go for a BBQ after, we could compare sausage size!
I think all this banter is childish, lets face it we all know i’m the hardest!
    My day’s harder than yours!

    ***Lucky***

  13. My day’s harder than yours!

Should read My Dad is harder than yours!
But i like the fact that my Tuesday is hard!

So why does the driver have the helmet on? and the passenger have his helmet in his hand?

  14. pistol says:

    shistertwo
you may well have a skills visa but what does that mean? you can get in to oz as a hair dresser so if your skill is along the same lines as that i would say you own a cabriolet, yes i could of purchased a different car but then i would not have met you to take the piss out of. my life is worth more and no it was not the stig and if you dont know who that is the you are a nobody. keep your chin up as you dont have to live in oz with your skills visa you could always go to africa and join a tribe and show them how to light fires .

  15. the UN says:

this is getting pretty silly… this is just a forum chatting about cars…. if your going to make enemies out of people you have never met thats a rookie error….

Sweet car joe, bet u get lots of confused stares from the locals wondering what the hell the car is

  16. joe says:

again weve been on the move :

    so far:

    nuburgring x 4
    spa francorchamps x 1
le mans bugatti circuit x 1

    better than a monaro

    joe

  17. lcat says:

hi joe interested to know what tyres you have fitted and if you have had to replace any with all these track laps?

  18. Going Ford, Is The Going Thing says:

Someone should race the Orion GT there when it comes out next year, that would show the whole world how fast Australian’s are.

  19. joe says:

yes m8 – toyo r888’s on them think were on our second set – the camber helps alot – last time out the front left was completely slick!(i think anyway, its my dads car!)

  20. nathan havers says:

sorry to tell people but im quite suprised to see this.

it is a family friend that has moved to jersey and it’s not a tuning fim’s car at all it’s an amazing maching juss look out for the burnt orange bmw m3csl with the carbon hood and your bound to see this falcon again.

  21. nathan havers says:

o and to add on it does a 8.30 or less time

  22. nathan says:

ok my comment’s not needed as thy been answered by pistol n joe
