After my happy union with my 2004 Maxima I could not find a better car than the 2011 model which I ordered without even a test-drive. I must say that I am delighted with my 2.5 liter model. No doubt the larger engine would accelerate faster from 120 to 150 km, but living lawfully, I couldn't care less and find that there is ample power for all practical purposes. It is a great car with all the gadgets you may expect in any under 80K car and more. The only features I miss from my pre-2004 8-cyl Lexus is that the sidemirrors do not reset into reversing mode and don't fold when the engine stops.
Show me another car with leather, the sound system with 6 disks, keyless, electric seats, etc, etc for the price of the Maxima. And as far as the criticism that it is not as pretty as a Jag or a Porsche (which I think is looking like an ugly midget with a broken nose) I think it stands up to the Camry or Commodore, but who cares? Do you buy a car to watch it or did you buy it for effortless travel?

Just bought a 350 TI.
Yeah it's no oil painting but you certainly get bang for your buck and not everyone in the street has one. In fact it was hard to find one.
Might not have the "look at me" factor but really ticked more boxes than anything in its class as a perfect office on wheels - comfort, bluetooth, tunes, power, value.

I was recently in Thailand and the new Teana/Maxima....is much more upmarket than the model available here. The chrome strips on the bootlid are retained on all models and there is a choice of black or biege upholstery...the biege looks far more upmarket than the dark and dreary black interior available here. No doubt Nissan will update our Maxima with these features available. Why not do it now ? Not everyone likes dungeon black interiors, which seems to be the trend now. I owned a 2003 Maxima and it was a good car overall, despite the black interior but, I will not buy another car with a black interior. I prefer the light grey leather interior of my present car. I think the new Maxima is no improvement in looks over the previous model, it is a bit too fussy. The Honda Accord is so ugly like a copy of the ugly current BMW 5 series,so Accord is off my shopping list.

Hi

I purchased the last of the 2008 models in April 2009 been my first venture into the Nissan camp this year and I must say I was impressed by the style looking like a sports hatchback. I was tempted by the dealership to take up the new model 2009 but what put me off was it looked like a Toyota Camary. Great accessories but the style was awful. This model has a lot of potential just looking at the USA version --- WOW I want one of those from the USA ..this looks like real grunt, looks hot and would certaintly grab younger demographics., so please forget the marketing research that claims its a 50plus something model and starting getting sexy. I have to say I am impressed with my 2008 but can we start some basic refinements. Here they are illumate the steering control dials for night driving .. that is .. the cruise control, and radio controls on the steering even though these control are now on the steering for the new model. The turning circle is very poor but can be improved. Some blind spot need to cleared up, bluetooth ok on the new model 2009, nav system ok on the 2009 model, engine great auto 6speed sounds good but can have a lag affect on acceraltion, so please insert in the rear door panel side parcel buckets, and the centre arm rest in the rear could have an insert storage for rear passenger to put sunglasses, plus keep the glass container in place.

The styling of the 2009 model needs work it has the potental it is more to do with the rear lights its very Totoya and the front headlight are awkard. It needs a low profile sports look and BANG you have a real contender to the BMW, MERC, and other European cars. Been an ex GMH, FORD and Renault the Nissan Maxima may become an unduring repurchase model in the next 3 to 6 years.

Good luck and the images of the US version is one hell off a good looking machine pity the Australian version missed the opportunity.

The new 2009 Model is my fourth Maxima. Nissan are continually improving on the last models. I love the front of the new one however they must have run out of money for the rear end this time. My model is the STS 3.5 and it has returned 7.5 ltrs per hundred klms on a country drive.
The Maxima is a VERY underrated vehicle. Look out Ford and Holdens

The unfortunate thing about Australia is we get the Nissan Tiana and not the “REAL” Maxima.

If you look at Nissan Japan or America the Maxima is very much a different car, my problem with this is we getting rip off!!! I paid 50K for my previous TI-L and let me tell you that is not worth that much.

Come on Nissan Australia, people now have access to websites and other countries to see Nissan cars in other countries…. Bring over real Nissan Maxima!
I will be very surprise if they are selling allot for this model or they may do the rental sales again where Europecar and Budget buys them cheap and detroyed the resale value completely just like to previous Maxima….
Good on you Nissan, keep up the good work…!

Incidentally, I get between 9.1 and 9.4 L per 100 Km from my 2008 Maxima - doing a mix of town and highway motoring.

I bought my fourth Maxima a 2008 model in March 09. I know its a bit conservative looking but that is trivial compared to its drivability - round town or open road touring. It does this without fuss and in a way that cars costing twice as much can only claim to do. However, Nissan's management seems to be the Maximas main problem. I cant understand why they didnt give Australians the US Maxima. Maxima buyers like me want all round performance. The US Maxima looks smarter, and performs just as well. The only thing better than Nissans V6 is their V8. I cant understand why we cant have that too.

U G L Y!
What a shame such a great feature package is ruined by the ugliest design in the segment by far! I want to like this car, but I could not face driving something that monumentally ugly.

Why does ours look sooo much worse than the US one?

I own a 2004 TI and was looking forward to the release of the new one . I gotta say I am a bit underwhelmed by the exterior design .So much so i spent yesterday test driving several other brands but couldnt find any thing that was any better than the 04 model I already own . So i guess if the new one is better to drive and a little more sporty in the suspension it will be the one I will buy. The reliability is fantastic and after owning falcodores prior to the maxima i am never going back . luckily i st inside where its great looking other people have to look at the outside !
