Porsche’s MY15 updates increase prices and spec
The price increases, which range between $1300 for PDK versions of the new hardcore Boxster and Cayman GTS through to $11,700 on top of the Panamera Diesel price, are offset by the addition of standard equipment and, in the case of the Panamera Diesel, a punchier new engine.
The only members of Porsche’s six-model local range not affected by the MY15 tweaks are the newly-launched Macan compact SUV and its larger Cayenne sibling, which will be replaced by an updated model by year’s end — shortly after its world premiere at the Paris motor show in October.
Pricing on the Boxster and Cayman twins has grown by between $1300 and $2900, though Porsche has added a standard tyre pressure monitor.
The 911 range climbs between $1500 (Cabriolet variants), $2600 (Carrera Coupe variants) and between $4100 and $8100 (hard- and soft-topped Turbo models). The track-ready GT3 is unchanged at $294,100 plus on-road costs.
Countering these somewhat is the addition of standard seat heating and tyre pressure monitor, plus a Porsche Dynamic Lighting system on all 911 Carrera 2, Carrera 2S, Carrera 4, Carrera 4S Targa 4 and Targa 4S models.
Finally, the Panamera range grows by between $1500 (Turbo and Turbo S), all the way up to $11,700 for the Diesel — the latter in return for a new 221kW/650Nm 3.0-litre turbo-diesel engine with 37kW/100Nm more than its predecessor.
Beyond the more potent new diesel engine, all models get a tyre pressure monitor and Porsche’s Entry and Drive remote entry and permanent valet key. Turbo and Turbo S variants get Lane Change Assist, while the Panamera, Panamera Diesel and Panamera 4 get a Porsche Dynamic Lighting System.
The sequence of price increases come just over one year after Porsche’s local arm slashed pricing across most models by between $5500 and $36,300. As a result, the company shifted a record-breaking 1905 units in 2013 (up 39 per cent on the previous year).
Porsche sales are up a further 44 per cent this year, while incremental sales for the new Macan will see the company smash its all-time record this year, with a projection of more than 3000 units.
