Renault Sport Trophy : Teased concept previews 368kW-plus Nismo-powered racer

The first image and details of the Renault Sport Trophy concept have been teased ahead of the future Nismo-powered race car's unveiling at the Moscow motor show in August and 2015 competitive race start.

Developed in-house by Renault Sport Technologies – the team responsible for the company’s motorsport involvement and high-performance ‘RS’ special vehicles – the Renault Sport Trophy previews a racer that will feature in a new single-model championship category in the brand's own World Series racing competition, set to launch in 2015.

Due to weigh around 1100kg, thanks to a carbon monocoque, and feature a seven-speed sequential gearbox and a 368kW-plus powerplant sourced by Nismo – the performance arm of Renault's alliance partner Nissan – the French car maker says the concept will have a unique design and exceptional performance. It will also be shod with specifically developed Michelin tyres.

The 2014 Moscow motor show begins on August 27.

Renault Sport has had a busy time of late, recently announcing its new hardcore Renault Megane RS275 Trophy-R (pictured below) has reclaimed the title of Nurburgring’s fastest front-wheel-drive production car with a time of 7:54.36.
