2014 Honda Jazz pricing revealed

The third-generation Honda Jazz will retain its predecessor’s sub-$15,000 starting price when it arrives in Australia in July, but will be more expensive at the other end of the range.

The new entry-level Honda Jazz VTi manual is priced identically to the outgoing GLi base model at $14,990, while the new Jazz VTi-L CVT flagship costs from $22,490, up $1500 on the current range topper.

The cheapest auto variant, the VTi CVT, retains its $16,990 price tag, while the mid-spec VTi-S CVT costs from $19,790.

All three model grades are equipped with the 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that was previously reserved for the mid- and high-grade models. It continues to produce 88kW of power at 6600rpm and 145Nm of torque at 4500rpm, which means an increase of 15kW and 18Nm for the base model that was previously powered by a smaller 1.3-litre engine.

The five-speed manual variant uses 6.2 litres of fuel per 100km on the combined cycle (down from 6.4L/100km), while the automatic continuously variable transmission is now significantly more frugal at 5.8L/100km – down 13 per cent from 6.7L/100km.

The outgoing version of the Honda Jazz Hybrid will remain on sale alongside the third-generation Jazz before the new hybrid model reaches local showrooms in the first half of 2015.

As before, the new Jazz features Honda’s signature second-row ‘magic seats’, which flip and fold in 18 different ways to increase the versatility of the city-sized hatchback.

New to the range is the Display Audio system, which features ‘mirroring’ technology that allows owners to connect compatible smartphones and use selected applications as they would on their phones on the car’s 7.0-inch colour touchscreen.

As with the recently launched Honda City, Jazz buyers will be able to download the Honda Satellite Navigation app on their phones and purchase a three-year subscription to its mapping and navigation data for $49.99.

Display Audio also incorporates Bluetooth phone connectivity with audio streaming and a three-mode reverse-view camera with normal, wide and top-down settings.

Six airbags, hill start assist and electronic stability control will also be standard across the range.

The top-spec Jazz VTi-L will uniquely feature partial leather upholstery, heated front seats and rear parking sensors.

The third-generation Honda Jazz will be sourced from Thailand. Full specification details will be announced at the all-new Honda Jazz’s local launch next month.
