No F1 for Volkswagen & Ford

The recent announcement by Formula One boss Max Mosely in relation to changing F1 engines to turbo-diesels sparked some interest that Ford and Volkswagen, who were both contacted with the proposal, would join the game in 2011.

However Mr Mosley was quick to play down the rumours last week, saying he was more interested in hearing an unbiased point of view from the two manufacturers and did not believe either were currently interested in joining the championship.

I don’t think there is any suggestion that either of those companies will come into formula one,” Mr Mosley said.

There is still some time before the new proposals come into effect and so there remains a faint possibility that Ford (which left the scene in 2004 with Jaguar) will again rejoin the championship.
