2014 Ssangyong Korando priced from $27,990 driveaway

Ssangyong Australia has cut the slow-selling six-speed manual variants from the revised Korando range, leaving just two six-speed automatic variants: the $27,990 driveaway Korando S 4x2 petrol and the $32,990 driveaway Korando SX 4x4 diesel.

Each costs $4000 more than the equivalent manual in the old range and $2000 more than the old auto.

Both upgraded models gain leather upholstery and heated front seats as standard, while the Korando S petrol adds larger 17-inch alloy wheels (up from 16s, already standard on Korando SX), and the diesel SX adds heated rear seats and automatic headlights and wipers. Climate control also remains standard in the SX.

Both sport fresh exterior styling with more sharply styled headlights, intakes and front grille and new LED tail-lights, as well as an updated interior with a revised instrument cluster, dashboard, vents and centre stack.

Revisions to the 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine see power fall 1kW to 110kW but torque rise 6Nm to 197Nm. Combined cycle fuel consumption edges down from 8.0 litres per 100km to 7.9L/100km.

The 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine carries over unchanged, producing 129kW and 360Nm, while consuming 7.5L/100km combined.

The Ssangyong Korando comes with a five-year/100,000km warranty and five years of roadside assistance.

Sales of the runout Korando totalled just 134 in the first four months of 2014, down 53 per cent compared with the same period in 2013.
