Hyundai Veloster facelift spied – UPDATED with images from the Nurburgring

CarAdvice's spy photographers have caught a heavily camouflaged version of the Hyundai Veloster Turbo - known as the SR Turbo in Australia - in Germany: firstly at the company's local headquarters, then at speed on the 'Ring.

We can tell it's the turbocharged version due to the side-skirts and dual central tailpipes, and under the covers it is expected to feature a dramatic new grille treatment, which could follow the sharply-styled form set by the likes of the new Genesis luxury sedan and the new Sonata. It's unclear if the headlights will see styling changes, but going by these images, it could be that they will adopt a less bulbous look.

Our sources suggest there will be revisions to the tail-lights, too, and a revised rear bumper and possibly a newly shaped rear spoiler. New wheel designs are expected to be offered across the range.

There are no interior images currently available, but according to our spies there was some camouflage inside the car indicating the likelihood some materials or design elements will change.

No information is available in regards to changes to the Veloster's engine range, which currently consists of a 1.6-litre four-cylinder normally aspirated engine and the SR Turbo's 1.6-litre force-fed four-cylinder. However, it is likely that there could be a small power jump for the turbo version.

The current Veloster went on sale in Australia in February 2012, with the Veloster SR Turbo launched in July that year. By Hyundai's model life cycles, any facelifted version of the Veloster line-up would be expected to be launched locally sometime in 2015.

Hyundai Australia says it has no information available regarding the facelifted Veloster.
