Video: Mercedes-Benz E-Class wagon’s tricky ‘dickie’ rear seats
The Mercedes-Benz E-Class wagon offers an elegant solution to third-row seating with their rear facing boot-mounted ‘dickie’ seats.
The system has been a Mercedes-Benz theme since the W123 Estate of the 1970s, and the latest iteration in the E400 Estate still provides a bit of fun for young passengers.
The E-Class is the only car to approach third-row seating in this way, setting it apart from other seven-seat wagons on the market such as the Toyota Prius V and Subaru Liberty Exiga.
It’s not totally ideal, however, with access restricted to the boot hatch and the rear windows being fixed. But as far as adding more practicality to an already practical wagon, it’s a favourite in our book.
