Isuzu MU-X to continue Morcombe family child safety crusade

Isuzu Ute Australia has donated a new seven-seat MU-X to Bruce and Denise Morcombe to assist them in their child safety education campaign associated with the Daniel Morcombe Foundation.

Replacing a D-Max ute with almost 60,000km on the clock, the brand new Isuzu MU-X SUV was presented to the Morcombes to help them and the foundation named after their teenage son Daniel continue an education and awareness campaign teaching children about personal safety and awareness, including cybersafety and phone safety.

Daniel Morcombe was abducted in 2003 while waiting to catch a bus. Last month his convicted kidnapper and killer, 44-year-old Brett Peter Cowan, was sentenced to life in jail with a non-parole period of 20 years.

Bruce Morcombe said he was very appreciative of Isuzu's assistance and continued support of the foundation.

“When you consider how many kays we do each year … it takes a lot of stress out of our day-to-day running of our program knowing we have a reliable and economical vehicle on hand to get us to the hundreds of school visits we do each year,” Morcombe added.

Starting at $40,500, the Isuzu MU-X is powered by a 130kW/380Nm 3.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel and is available in both rear- and four-wheel drive.
