Toyota Yaris facelift leaked

Images of the facelifted Toyota Yaris have leaked online, revealing the fresh styling of the brand’s updated city car.

The images – reportedly scanned from a Japanese brochure and published on an Italian automotive blog – show the revised Yaris hatchback (badged ‘Vitz’ in some overseas markets) with a new front bumper with a larger trapezoidal lower intake reminiscent of that of the Corolla hatch.

Thin vertical slats sit either side of the new intake, while its newly tinted headlights are now integrated into the grille, again in a style that mirrors its top-selling big brother. Also revealed is the revised RS variant, which gains an even larger lower intake, fog lights and unique black alloy wheels.

Additional brochure shots reveal subtle tweaks to the Yaris’ infotainment system. There’s no word at this stage on changes to its powertrain line-up, which currently includes 1.3- and 1.5-litre petrol engines and five-speed manual and four-speed automatic transmissions.

Reports from the UK confirm Toyota's updated city car will be available to order in Europe from May, suggesting it’s likely to be officially unveiled in the coming weeks.

Toyota Australia confirmed the facelifted Yaris will arrive in Australian showrooms later this year.

The current-generation Yaris launched in Australia in October 2011. Priced from $14,990, the Yaris is the second-highest-selling city car in the country behind the popular Mazda 2.
