Peugeot 208 Cabriolet due in 2015, report claims
The Peugeot 208 is set to lose its lid, according to reports out of France.
Caradisiac reports the French brand's city car will adopt a fully automated soft-top lid for the three-door by "late 2015" following a reveal at the 2015 Frankfurt motor show.
The Peugeot 208 Cabriolet is said to be anything but a like-for-like replacement of the old 207CC hard-top; instead, it is expected to be fitted with a folding fabric roof in order to save weight and complexity. The French publication claims the car will be able to lower its roof from outside the car, via the key fob.
Under the bonnet, the model is rumoured to be powered by a range of engines, including a range-topping model with the same 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder as the 208 GTi (pictured above), with 147kW of power and 275Nm of torque.
Peugeot Australia told CarAdvice there has been no announcement made regarding any such version of the 208.
The Cabriolet - if it does make it to production - would be the third spin-off model spawned from the 208 hatch, with the 301 sedan and 2008 SUV already on sale in global markets.
